Strong Catholic Family Faith:  Guide to using Technology and Media

  • A wealth of links on subjects like cyberbullying, parenting in digital age, online safety rules, privacy, digital citizenship, etc.  The website was created by a team of Catholics working for the Church in education, formation and evangelization, and has a variety of resources about faith for families.

Faith and Safety:  Technology Safely through the Eyes of Faith

  • A joint guide between the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, this website contains sections on media agreements, parental controls, online safety tips (such as step by step instructions on how to set up a safe search on your browsers) and more.

NON CATHOLIC RESOURCES - not every resource will support official Catholic teaching.

Common Sense Media:  Parent Articles 

  • A nonprofit website that offers reviews for apps, games, books, movies and TV series, and more. The reviews include opinions by experts, parents and kids. The entire site is searchable by age or by topic.  The free access is limited to 3 reviews per month, but the paid access is unlimited.  This specific page links to their articles for parents. 

Nemours Health:  Parent Guide to Online Safety 

  • This health based resource includes checklist of behaviors that may indicate online grooming, as well as how to report suspected child pornography.

CISA:  Cybersecurity Awareness for Parents and Educators

  • An official website of the Department of Homeland Security (USA), this page gives parents and educators a wide variety of links to best practices.

NetSmartz:  Resources for Parents & Community Members

  • Presentations and tip sheets on various online safety issues, from the Center for Missing & Exploited Children

ConnectSafely:  Quick Guides 

  • A Silicon Valley nonprofit with thorough information about specific apps and games

CYBERGENERATIONS:  THE SENIOR CITIZENS CYBER SAFETY INITIATIVE

Scams are everywhere. Do you know how to protect yourself?  Thanks to the support of AT&T, the Air Force Association’s CyberPatriot program has developed a workshop to help equip you with the skills needed to protect your personal information and stay safe and secure online.  

St. William previously presented the CyberGenerations material in four workshops:

  • Common Internet Threats
  • Internet & Phone Scams
  • Social Media Safety
