We are hosting our first Advent Tea, on Sunday, December 6 at 2:30 p.m.
The Advent Tea is for women 18 and up that are parishioners and friends
of parishioners. It is an afternoon of quiet and reflection at a time
of year we are preparing our homes and families for the Advent and
Christmas celebrations. Stories will be told, scripture will be read and
music will be provided by our Music Ministry. This will be a time for
sharing with other women in our parish, making new friends and getting
re-acquainted with friends we have not seen in a long while.
We hope to get 20 women who would invite seven friends or family members
(or we may have women that would like to attend, but cannot host a table
and we could seat them at your table, if you have room). The host would
decorate the round table with table cloth and service for 8 people,
provide a dessert for your table, and tea, of course. The table
decorations can be as lavish with silver tea sets and fine china, or you
can dress your table with paper and plastic ware, or any way that you
would like.
This is a way of women coming together, to be with each other, and
support each other in a hectic and chaotic time of year. St. William
provides a round table for 8 people and chairs, hot water for the tea,
coffee and afternoon of reflection.

All
Music Ministries at St. William are looking for returning and
new members to help fill out our ranks. Some members will not be
returning, so we will need people of all gift and talent levels
to continue the wonderful musical contributions we have been so
fortunate to provide at our Liturgies.
Children and Youth Choirs will begin the first
Saturday after Labor Day, September 12. Children’s Choir, grades
1—3 will practice from 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m., and Youth Choir,
grades 4—high school practice from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. All
young people are encouraged participate. Mrs. Jeanne Blajian
will be directing the Children’s and Youth Choirs again this
year. If you have any questions, please call the music ministry
office at 597-7411.
Remnant is the new name for our Contemporary Choir.
Remnant is looking for singers and instrumentalist that are
musically qualified to join Remnant. Remnant does not
discriminate on age or skill level; young people, through
grandparents are welcome to participate. Practices take place
every Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. We are trying
to achieve a new sound for our contemporary Liturgy, so if you
know of anyone that plays guitar, bass, percussion, woodwinds,
brass or stringed instruments, please encourage them to contact
the music office, 597-7411 for more information.
St. William Chorale is our traditional four-part
choir. We use musical styles from medieval to contemporary
composers to our Liturgies at St. William. The St. William
Chorale does not discriminate on age or music level and we are
looking for new and returning members. You do not have to be
able to read music, or have had extensive vocal training. Just
a love of our Liturgy, and a caring sense of people is all that
is required. The St. William Chorale is under the direction of
Gary Robertson, and he can be reached at 597-7411 for more
information. Rehearsals begin Wednesday, September 9 at 7:00
p.m. go to 9:00 p.m.
The
Arimathean Choir provides beautiful music and
helps to support music at funeral Liturgies. All ages are
encouraged to participate. If you would like to participate in
this group, please call Gary Robertson at 597-7411 for more
information. |
If
you have ever given any thought at all about joining one of the music
ministries here at St. William, now
is the time!
People from the community sharing their musical gifts are what make this

deal of camaraderie and fun!
Top Reasons For Joining The
Church Choir
You're running out of clean clothes and the robe saves on laundry.
The church is usually crowded and you want to make sure you always have a
seat.
You've just been selected for jury duty and you want to get use to sitting
with a large group of people.
The collection plate is never passed to the choir.
There's a clock in the back of the church and you want to know when one hour
has passed.
For years you have wanted to know who sits in the back of the church but
were afraid to turn around and look.
You've been known to nod off during the Mass and don't want the priest to
catch you.
The chairs for the choir are padded and are the most comfortable chairs in
the church.
