Included are those who have severe allergy to chicken eggs;, have had a severe reaction to an influenza vaccination in the past, people who developed Guillian-Barre (GBS) within 6 weeks of getting an influenza vaccine previously, and children less than 6 months of age (influenza vaccine is not approved for use in this age group). People who have a moderate or severe illness with fever should wait to get vaccinated until their symptoms lessen. The H1N1 flu vaccine is offered in two different versions that include the LAIV (flu mist) version and injectable (flu shot) form. The FluMist nasal spray is approved only for use in healthy people 2-49 years of age who are not pregnant. For more information, visit http://www.myflusafety.com. To date, at least 113 shawls have been distributed. Additionally, 20 shawls have been made to celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism. We continue to pray for the intentions of those who have received the shawls, and those who will receive shawls in the future. If you know of someone that you think might benefit from a symbol of the healing presence of God, please call Rosanne at 262-0338 and arrange to pick up a shawl. We have both shawls and lap blanket sizes.
The Parish Nurse is available to assist in meeting the health care needs of the whole person: physically, psycho socially, and spiritually in a confident manner. Providing no hands on nursing care, the parish nurse is also available as a personal health counselor, health educator, referral agent, health advocate, and integrator of faith and health. |
